Minority rights The private equity talks involving Edgars Consolidated Stores and Shoprite that will see Shoprite delisted are very unfortunate.

It appears more and more that the rights of small investors count for nothing in today's corporate world. Governments in Africa are encouraging companies to list on the stock exchange as a way of raising capital and also as a way of enabling the local communities to share in the wealth of their nation.
