Egerton University will reopen on Sunday. Its senate asked lecturers to report for duty on Monday.

Chaired by vice-chancellor James Tuitoek, the senate directed deans of faculties and departmental heads to communicate the information to lecturers under them.

Prof Tuitoek told the senate that the university administration would consider paying lecturers their October and November salaries once they resume teaching.

It paid the dons for the 20 days they worked in the month of October before they went on strike. The institution had said it would not pay the …
