About 35 ancient buildings might be demolished in Mombasa's Old Town.
Owners of 10 of the buildings were yesterday told to bring them down immediately because their poor condition posed danger.
The decision was arrived at during the Mombasa District Development Committee (DDC) meeting and came barely a week after three old houses collapsed in the area after heavy rains.
"The 10 dangerous structures cannot be salvaged with most of them having already been vacated, while the others are occupied at the occupants' own risk," a National Museum of Kenya (NMK) official said. …
