LDP eyes postal rebels' readmission

The Liberal Democratic Party unofficially decided Monday evening to readmit to the party House of Representatives members ousted by the party last year for opposing its postal privatization policy, with the exception of former Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Takeo Hiranuma.

The 12 so-called postal rebels submitted in the morning a joint request to LDP Acting Secretary General Nobuteru Ishihara, to be readmitted to the party.

The postal rebels, except for Hiranuma, also submitted written pledges to support postal privatization, which was required by the party …
