Section: Business News - To make up for sluggish sales growth this year, the country's two largest department store chains - The Mall and Central - are offering discount promotions to boost sales entering the holiday season, the Bangkok Post reports.

A lacklustre economy, weighed down by high energy costs, soaring inflation and political turmoil, caused both department stores to show only single-digit growth in the first nine months of the year, compared with double-digit growth last year.

To boost sales, the chains are launching last-minute marketing promotions in the hope that spending will jump 20% above regular retail …
