Education officials wined and dined the day of high school girl's suicide.

YAMAGATA -- Top education officials of Yamagata Prefecture held a party on Wednesday, the same day a local high school girl committed suicide by jumping from a school roof, it has emerged.

A sendoff and welcome party scheduled for old and new members of the Yamagata Prefectural Board of Education after a board reshuffle on Oct. 27 had been postponed until Nov. 22 -- the same day that the 16-year-old student at Takahata High School committed suicide by jumping off the school roof.

Her death, which occurred around noon, was reported to the board a few hours later, and board officials in charge of high school education …
