The RCN has issued a warning to nurses being recruited by private companies for flu campaigns to ensure they are administering the vaccine under the right regulations.

The warning follows increased competition between the big high street pharmacies and supermarkets, including Boots and Superdrug, to offer flu jabs to customers.

Professor Matt Griffiths, RCN's joint prescribing adviser, said he had received a number of calls from nurses who were unsure of the rules and regulations in this area.
