Bicam tackles biofuels bill.

The bicameral conference committee is set to start today the reconciliation of conflicting provisions in the bills that seek to mandate the use of a blend of renewable fuels by all vehicles.

Senate Bill 2226 and House Bill 4629 seek to mandate either a 1%-2% or a 1%-5% blend of coco methyl ester for diesel and up 5% to 10% blend of bioethanol for gasoline.

Lawmakers are expected to tackle differences in the granting of incentives for producers and distributors of biofuels. The Senate bill provides for a zero-rated specific tax on local and imported biofuels …
