Comcast TV rates going up in January.

Nov. 23--Comcast customers in the Richmond area will pay more for cable TV starting at the first of the year.

Monthly rates for full standard analog service will increase 5.5 percent in the metro area, from $49.71 to $52.45, Comcast spokeswoman Lisa Altman said. That package includes local stations as well as channels such as ESPN, CNN, Nickelodeon and MTV.

The company's Internet and telephone rates are not increasing. And because of promotions or discounts for subscribing to multiple services, most local customers will see bills increase about 3 percent, Altman said. That is down from the average 4.5 percent jump this year …
