FORMER Ugandan envoy to the Democratic Republic of Congo Joram Ajeani has called on the government to institute more stringent border controls to check the rising cross-frontier crimes.

Ajeani told the national intelligence coordinator Lt. Gen. David Tinyefuza in a November 16 memorandum that rogues were infiltrating the country mainly due to laxity and poor record keeping at immigration posts.

"Our borders with Sudan and the DRC could be safe if everybody moving in and out of our country were registered by Immigration officials," Ajeani said.
