EDITORIAL / DPJ must act sensibly to join mainstream

While asking the government and ruling parties to thoroughly discuss in the current Diet session a bill to revise the Fundamental Law of Education, the Democratic Party of Japan and other opposition parties are ignoring the deliberations. In stalling the Diet session, the DPJ might have felt ashamed of its associations with defunct Japan Socialist Party, the predecessor of the current Social Democratic Party.
