Nov. 15--People who consume the highest levels of trans fatty acids, primarily from fast foods and packaged snacks, may have triple the risk of developing coronary heart disease than those consuming the lowest levels of trans fats, according to a Harvard School of Public Health study. Earlier studies have shown a link between trans fats and heart disease, but the Harvard study is the first to show that people with the highest trans fats in their diet also had the highest levels of trans fats embedded in their red blood cells.
