Nov. 15--A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools building that has lived many lives soon will have another -- and in updated surroundings. Preliminary work already is under way at Midwood School, a 70-year-old structure that will be modernized and then house a program designed to help eighth-graders prepare for high school. "Midwood School is actually a number of different buildings, constructed at different times," said Guy Chamberlain, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools associate superintendent for auxiliary services.
