Nov. 14--WILKES-BARRE -- Pennsylvania's first slot-machine parlor opened at a horse racing track near here today, two years after state lawmakers had said they wanted the cash that gaming would bring in. An estimated 1,000 people lined up to put their money toward that cause when the doors opened at 10 a.m. Within the first hour, 1,800 people had come through the front doors to get to the nearly 1,100 slot machines.
