Nov. 14--A former Philadelphia police chemist accused of stealing thousands of painkillers for her own personal use waived her right this morning to a preliminary hearing in Municipal Court. Colleen Brubaker, 31, allegedly stole 2,700 pills that included Oxycontin, Vicodin and Percocet from a police laboratory where she worked. The pills had been confiscated as evidence in 33 drug cases, Assistant District Attorney James Berardinelli said this morning after the hearing. Brubaker's lawyer, Andrew Gay, would not say why the hearing was waived or whether it meant that he was trying to secure a deal for his client if she were to plead ...
