The playing on these two instruments by Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini and Liuwe Tamminga of two collections of Renaissance and early Baroque music--Maestri Padani e Fiamminghi (Tactus TC460001, rec 1990) and a selection of works by Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli (Tactus TC510001, rec 1990)--is admirably clear and incisive. |Paduan and Flemish masters' is a slightly odd description of music by Banchieri, the two Cavazzonis, Frescobaldi, Macque, Merula, Ercole Pasquini and several minor masters, though |Padani' does actually mean |of the plain of the Po' (a geographical point on which the English translation, unlike the French and German, is inaccurate).
