Nov. 10--Two years ago, fights were common at Lower Richland High School -- but not anymore, said junior Ashley Miller. "I think it has calmed down a lot," said Miller, 16. Her mother Shontell Jones, 36, said she once witnessed a fight as she picked Miller up from school.

"When they called her to the office, she had to walk through the whole scene," Jones said. Jones and Miller said the new principal, Marvin Byers, has changed the environment at the school. On Thursday, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrests of three people, including a Lower Richland High student, in connection with the Saturday shooting…
