Gay Haines, one of the advertising industry's most famous and powerful headhunters, is to open a new headhunting company with her son, Jay.

The former Kendall Tarrant chief executive stepped down from the board of the company's Hat Pin parent in May and departed the headhunters in August.

Up until a week ago, Jay Haines also worked at Kendall Tarrant as an executive search consultant and account manager. However, it is understood that he is contractually bound from setting up a rival headhunting venture until the end of February 2007.
