Three-time Indy Racing League champion Sam Hornish Jr. is the latest open-wheel star to eye NASCAR. He'll drive the Penske-owned No. 39 Dodge in the upcoming Busch Series races at Phoenix and Homestead, then run some ARCA, Busch and Cup races next year when the IRL schedule allows.
Hornish is the third big-name open-wheel racer to cast an eye toward NASCAR in recent months. Former CART and Indianapolis 500 champion and Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya will run the full Cup schedule next year in Havoline-backed Dodges for Chip Ganassi-Felix Sabates Racing. Champ Car star A.J. Allmendinger will tackle the full '07 Cup schedule in a Team Red Bull Toyota.
