Nov. 9--Heavily Democratic Anson County came through for incumbent Pryor Gibson, helping him swamp Republican Jim Bention Sr.
Gibson, a Democrat from Wadesboro, won re-election Tuesday to N.C. House District 69 with 8,535 votes, or 67 percent, to Bention's 4,274, or 33 percent. The district encompasses Anson and eastern Union counties. Though Bention fared well in the latter region, Anson County voted for Gibson more than 5 to 1.
