More chicken imports eyed to cover Yuletide shortfall.

The Philippines aims to import 2 million kilograms (kgs.) more of chicken, in addition to the 3 million kgs. imports approved by the Department of Agriculture last month, to prevent a shortfall of supply of poultry in the coming holiday season.

United Broiler Raisers Association (UBRA) president Gregorio A. San Diego said in a phone interview yesterday that representatives of his group met with officials of the Agriculture department last weekend and they were able to decide on the additional 2 million kgs. of chicken imports.
