There is a sharp rise in mosquito transmitted dengue fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever cases in the past few weeks, with dozens of people in hospitals. The virus has been in Pakistan (particularly Karachi) since more than a year as one of my own colleagues was infected in November, 2005 and remained under treatment in Liaquat National Hospital. Allah saved him.
