Developers looking to bid on the proposed Buffalo FBI offices were thrown a late-inning curve.
The General Services Administration, the federal government's real estate arm, canceled the bidding process three days before "best and final" offers were due for the office project. That move apparently ends more than 2 1/2 years of site and preliminary bid reviews.
"It seems to be a rather abrupt adjustment," said William Stark, Ciminelli Development Co. vice president. "It is something of a surprise to us."
Ciminelli Development is a joint-venture partner of one of the seven potential bidders on the FBI project.
