Nov. 8--Incumbent Republicans held on to one of the two contested General Assembly seats in reliably Republican Catawba County but lost the other to a Democratic challenger. Former Alexander County Sheriff Ray Warren earned a victory over first-term Republican Mark Hollo of Taylorsville in the race for N.C. House District 88, a Republican-held seat in a majority Republican district, which includes Alexander County and most of Hickory.
