Nov. 8--Some of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' biggest success stories in this year's state ABC ratings are not where you might expect them. Three of the highest-performing schools have enrollments with large percentages of minority and students from low-income families.
The ratings were released last week by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction, and measure student performance on state tests. Teachers and other staff members can receive bonuses if students meet their expected-growth and high-growth goals.
