The sun set in the life of Emmanuel Oladipupo Alayande last Friday when he bowed to the claws of death at University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan. Pa Alayande, as he was fondly called by his people graciously bowed to death at the ripe age of 96.

Pa Alayande until his death, remained one of the longest living educationist in Nigeria. He was part of the glorious era of teaching as a revered profession in the nation. He commenced his teaching career in 1932 when he left St Andrews College, Oyo, where he was admitted in 1929.

He loved education and its quest took him to Fourah Bay College, Freetown, Sierra Leone …
