Mexico's chemical industry grew in 2005. Production was up 7.3% at $15.83 bn. Domestic demand was up 7.2% and investment was up 24.4% at $1.17 bn. Imports of petrochemicals rose 7.5% and exports 27.8%. Imports of all other chemical goods were up 17.3% and exports 26%. The foreign trade deficit was $7.13 bn. Imports of inorganics fell from 410,000 tonnes to 360,000 tonnes, though consumption was up 1.1% at 3.86 M tonnes. Imports of petrochemicals were down …
