Kathmandu, 30 October: The Maoists attacked a Nepali Congress [NC] meeting in Kalikot district [midwestern Nepal], abducted six NC workers and injured many.

The Maoists attacked an NC function in Nelmudi village in the district on Saturday [28 October]. The Nepali Congress said that the Maoists, violating the cease-fire code of conduct, intervened in a peaceful gathering of the party. A statement issued by the NC central office in Kathmandu said that the Maoists brutally beat up NC leaders and cadres and injured dozens of them.
