ANGELES CITYMASKS THAT FREEZE forever the faces of former Sen. Benigno Ninoy Aquino Jr. and actor Fernando Poe Jr. in death are on display for the first time in a rare exhibit here on Kapampangan death practices.
Cast in fiberglass, the two masks are the creation of National Artist Napoleon Abueva.
The mask-making project followed the ancient tradition of the pukpuk (silversmith) to honor the dead and preserve their memory, Robby Tantingco, director of the Center for Kapampangan Studies of the Holy Angel University, told the Inquirer.
