Oct. 29--Northwestern toyed with Central for almost a half.
And then it showed why it is the top-ranked team in the state.
The Bulls, ranked No. 1 in the state Class 6A poll, turned its highly anticipated showdown with No. 2 Central into a 41-0 blowout that clinched the District 13-6A championship Saturday night at the Orange Bowl.
But it was the obstacles the Bulls (9-0, 5-0) overcame to win convincingly that awed the estimated crowd of 19,000 that showed up.
Northwestern, ranked No. 1 in the Miami Herald's South Florida Top 20, was penalized 13 times for 130 yards.
Its star senior running back Antwain Easterling sat out the first quarter for disciplinary reasons.
