Readmission of postal rebels a matter of time

The Liberal Democratic Party has begun to work to readmit some of the so-called postal rebels to the party by the end of the year at the latest, according to sources.

Consideration will be given to incumbent House of Representatives members who voted for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in the Diet election for prime minister, and readmission likely will be formally allowed after the Okinawa gubernatorial election on Nov. 19, the sources said.

After confirming that those postal rebels support the party's policy pledges made in last year's lower house election, the issue will be taken up by the LDP Ethics Committee. But some party members are concerned that the party …
