Yes, we can.

That's what a group of Riverbank teachers and parents has been saying for two years. And their dream of a dual-language academy finally is coming to fruition.

Determined to have their children be fluent in English and Spanish, the group has been trying to start a charter school that would focus on bilingual education.

Language academy advocates and the school district were slow to realize their common ground, but are working together now, said Bill Redford, the academy's principal.
