LAN backup will grow up into the enterprise when Symantec Corp. ships a product designed to span multiple NetWare 3.x and 4.x servers over local and wide area internetworks.

The Norton Enterprise Backup (NEB) product, due this June, allows administrators to view and invoke backup of all their NetWare servers, including those across wide area links, from one central location.

NEB also lets enterprise managers treat all tape devices as part of a single enterprise resource. In addition, it lets backup streams be redirected to any other server on the network.
