Slower Q2 for smart handheld.

THE growth of the local smart handheld devices market slowed slightly in the second quarter of this year, influenced by a huge drop in sales of pen-based handheld devices.

According to research firm IDC, the market dropped 1.9 per cent compared to the preceding quarter. But the figure was 10.5 per cent higher than the same corresponding period last year.

IDC market analyst, handheld and security appliances and software Elaine Lee told Tech&U that the converged market showed huge contribution to the handheld devices market during the period under review, attributing 99 per cent, an increase from 97 per cent in the …
