Oct. 20--Florida Atlantic learned it could compete with the Sun Belt's finest on Wednesday. It also learned that close is not enough.

The host Owls' offense, dormant for more than 58 minutes, sprang to life during the final two minutes. FAU went 55 yards in 10 plays and reached the Louisiana-Lafayette 8 with just two seconds remaining.
