Taipei, 19 October: President Chen Shui-bian said Thursday [19 October] Taiwan and El Salvador will be able to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) in the near future as they have thrashed out precise details of the pact.

Chen revealed progress in Taiwan-El Salvador FTA talks in a speech delivered at a state dinner hosted by him in a rural township in southern Chiayi County in honour of visiting Salvadoran President Elias Antonio Saca and his entourage.
