Hall of Fame honorees
Seven people were inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame during ceremonies Oct. 3 in Dearborn, Michigan, bringing the number of honorees to 224. Posthumous honors went to Italian designer Nuccio Bertone, Bridgestone Corporation founder Shojiro Ishibashi, and NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt. The other honorees were Bill France Jr., credited with growing NASCAR; H. Wayne Huizenga, entrepreneur and founder of auto retailer AutoNation; Arjay Miller, "Whiz Kid'' and former president of Ford Motor Co.; and Bruno Sacco, former chief designer at Mercedes-Benz.
Four people were given Young Leadership & Excellence Awards: Aaron P. Bickford from Arvin Meritor; Michael J. Gingell from R.L. Polk; Ann M. Fandozzi from DaimlerChrysler and Frank C. Orsini from Lear Corp.
