Oct. 18--The Educational Foundation of Lake County recently awarded more than $33,495 in grants to 86 teachers to pay for innovative and interactive projects.
This is the first of two rounds of Grants for Great Ideas for the 2006-07 school year.
The grants will help more than 12,340 students in 31 Lake County schools, said Carman Cullen, executive director of the educational foundation.
Some of the grants awarded included $174.99 for teaching essential words to non-English-speaking kindergarten students at Round Lake Elementary to $1,298 to help turn students into published authors at South Lake High School in Groveland.
Florida provides matching funds, so Lake will receive $41,095.
For information on the foundation and ways to donate, call Cullen at 352-326-1265 or e-mail cullenc@lake.k12.fl.us.…
