Oct. 11--Charlotte-Mecklenburg School officials are giving local builders a chance to work on school renovation projects and additions, and then lease them to CMS -- the same offer the district is making for the construction of new schools.
Guy Chamberlain, CMS associate superintendent for auxiliary services, said last week that he is sending a letter to area construction companies this week that will make the build-and-lease offer.
The state legislature recently adopted a bill that allows such arrangements.
