Oct. 11--Investigators have determined that a fire at a south Charlotte home overnight was an accident.
The fire, at a home on Ridge Haven Lane near Johnston Road, was started by a clothes dryer, fire officials said. A resident had started the dryer before he left work at 10 p.m.
A registered sex offender had lived at the home and concerned neighbors had been complaining to police about him recently, though he was not violating any laws. The house is about 900 feet from Endhaven Elementary School.
