Unless you've been living under a Hummer, you know C-SUVs (crossover sport/utility vehicles) are the new SUVs. They are so popular that they're set to pass traditional SUVs in sales sometime this year. Expect to see a sea of them in all shapes and sizes on every dealer lot now and for years to come. The latest is the Mazda CX-9. If you have to go the C-SUV route, this isn't a bad crossover to drive there.
Big brother to the CX-7 and kissin' cousin of the Ford Edge (some would say the Edge has better styling, but that's so subjective), the CX-9 shares structural components with CX-7 and Edge forward of the B-pillar. Aft of the B-pillar the CX-9 has more of its own unique stuff. That means three rows of seats instead of two, comfortable seating for seven adults and an independent rear suspension that will get you around a corner in a un-minivan way.
