ISI doubles its nursing content

Thomson Scientific is to double its coverage of nursing journals by the end of this year, the company has announced.

International Nursing Review, American Journal of Nursing and Journal of Professional Nursing will be among the publications included in the Web of Science (WoS) component of the scientific and medical information provider's ISI Web of Knowledge.

The online research database already includes information from nearly 9,000 journals from around the world, including back issues of the British Medical Journal, The Lancet and Nature stretching back more than a century.

Jim Testa, director of editorial development at Thomson Scientific, said the move reflected the evolution in perception of nursing. Once seen as a vocation or trade, it is now regarded as a profession on a par with law, medicine or teaching.
