UGANDA Revenue Authority (URA) is investigating former Army Commander, Maj. Gen. James Kazini, for alleged abuse of the tax waivers granted to hotels.

A URA source told Sunday Vision that the tax body had also set up a team to probe several other hotel owners and businesspeople following complaints from a section of the business community that the incentives were being violated.

The source said that Kazini colluded with a city businesswoman, who owns a Kampala-based enterprise that imports building materials and textiles, to get a tax waiver.
