Oct. 3--Each year, a handful of advanced learners enter UC Berkeley's freshman class. One of this fall's select few is 16-year-old Jay Wang of Pleasanton, who graduated from Foothill High School in June. One of the five youngest students UC Berkeley accepted for this fall semester, Jay is majoring in bioengineering with the goal of becoming a surgeon. His expectations of college? "I want to grow as a person," he said. It was after one of the annual April information days on campus that Jay -- impressed with those he met -- first decided UC Berkeley was the school for him.
