On 1-2 December 2005, the Institute hosted an international forum on family relationships in transition. The forum brought together over 200 participants from Australia and elsewhere, including Canada, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It sought to draw out best practice and lessons learned in the different countries, and promote opportunities for an ongoing exchange of ideas of mutual interest in the areas of research, policy and practice related to supporting families in relationship transitions.

The Institute's Director, Professor Alan Hayes, facilitated the event, supported by Dr Matthew Gray, with the opening ministerial addresses delivered by the Hon. Philip Ruddock MP, Attorney-General, and …
