SYDNEY, Oct 2 Asia Pulse - The Australian dollar opened lower today, in part because soft economic data in New Zealand is dragging down the currency.
At 0700 AEST, the local currency was trading at $US0.7456 68, down from Friday's close of US$0.7483.
Overnight it reached a low of $US0.7436 and a high of .7469.
A lack of overseas indicators may be amplifying the impact of lower- than- expected gross domestic product figures out of New Zealand last week, said Rob Hustler, foreign exchange director at ABN Amro Australia.
