Sep. 28--Everett Wohlbruck enrolled at Myers Park High School the day it opened on Colony Road in 1951. He ran track, forged a relationship with a girl who's been his wife for nearly 50 years, and was a member of the school's second graduating class in 1953. Now at 71, ailing from Parkinson's disease, Wohlbruck's burning passion is to give back to the school by helping students from low-income families with such needs as mentoring, tutoring, job shadowing and scholarships. Not on his own, but with as many other graduates as he can get to join the school's first alumni association, incorporated two months ago.
