GPs are likely to find themselves monitoring all chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients for anaemia following the publication of final NICE guidance.
The guideline on anaemia management in patients with CKD sets targets for haemoglobin levels in this group. The draft of the guidelines set a level for treatment of 11g/dl or less.
The guidance, which was due to be published as GP went to press, states that all CKD patients with anaemia should be treated regardless of age.
