The RCGP is to push ahead with a practice accreditation scheme, despite fierce opposition when it was announced.

The idea was put forward in June but was shelved following fears it would be 'misused as a star rating or league table system' and widespread anger among GPs over the scheme (GP, 16 June).

But the RCGP has announced that a voluntary scheme will go ahead based on its Quality Team Development scheme, following its endorsement at this month's RCGP council meeting.
