Mere 13 utility stores are insufficient to meet the requirement of two million citizens of Multan and the much trumpeted relief plan for the common man, as envisioned in the Prime Minister's directives regarding provision of cheap commodities at Utility Stores Corporation (USC), proved to be a failed show as the infrastructure in place as well as the commodities on sale were only an 'eyewash'.

USC also failed to open its franchise in Multan city and rural areas. While substandard and powdered sugar was being supplied to the consumers at Rs 28 per kg instead of Rs 27.50.
